Carles Esteva Mosso, partner at Latham & Watkins in Brussels, draws on more than 25 years of enforcement agency experience to advise clients on complex EU and international mergers, antitrust and State aid matters. Prior to joining the firm in June 2021, Mr. Esteva Mosso served as Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, where he was in charge of Merger Control (2014-2019) and State Aid (2019-2021). He has held a number of other leadership posts relating to merger enforcement and competition policy and he was member of the Cabinet of former Commissioner Mario Monti (1999-2004). Mr. Esteva Mosso has been directly involved in many complex transactions at the European Commission over the last decade and has overseen a variety of high profile antitrust and State aid matters, policy decisions, and legislative proposals. His experience includes working in cooperation with senior government representatives of EU Member States on matters of national importance and with prominent enforcement agencies across the world. Mr. Esteva Mosso also teaches at graduate level at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE).
