Mercedes Pedraz Calvo studied Law and Social Studies at Salamanca’s University. After studying European Union Law at Brugge’s College of Europe, she joined the Spanish Judiciary in 1987. She worked as a civil law and criminal law Judge in different Courts before being assigned to the Audiencia Nacional (Spanish National High Court) in Madrid. There, until December 2025, she has dealt with cases related to the decisions of the Spanish Antitrust and Regulator Authority among others. She is the author of several books and specialized publications on matters related to Administrative Law, and Antitrust Law and often works in training programs for Judges both in Europe and America. She is general Secretary of AEDEUR (Spanish Association for the Study of European Union Law) and a member of the executive committee of the AECLJ (Association of European Competition Law Judges).
