Dave Foster is an Executive Director in the competition practice and has been with Frontier Economics since 2005. He has extensive experience advising clients on mergers, market investigations and litigation before the EU, UK and other national regulatory authorities, with particular expertise in Digital, Telecoms, Media and Technology, FMCG and retail, public markets, and healthcare. He has worked on a number of high profile competition cases across Europe, including the landmark UK clearance of the Vodafone/Three mobile telecoms merger, the first such case approved on the basis of an efficiencies defence with novel behavioural remedies. His recent work also includes the European Commission’s Article 102 investigation into alleged tying between Facebook and Facebook Marketplace, appeals before the European Court of Justice in the Tata Steel/ThyssenKrupp and Hutchison/Telefonica mergers, advice to Danone and IVC Evidensia in UK CMA market inquiries, and expert economic advice in UK class action litigation, including the loyalty penalty and Gormsen v Meta cases. Dave is recognised as a Thought Leader in competition economics in the Lexology Index. He has published in the Competition Law Journal and sits on the Editorial Board of LexisNexis CompetitionPSL, for which he has authored several articles on the application of EU competition law. Before joining Frontier, he completed an MPhil in Economics with Distinction at the University of Oxford, where he was awarded the George Webb-Medley Prize for his economics thesis.
