Simeon Thornton is currently a Director of Economics at Ofcom, where he leads work on a variety of projects including digital markets, online news, the Media Act, the public service media review and net neutrality. Before joining Ofcom, he was a Director at the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, where he led a range of work relating to online platforms, including market studies into digital advertising and mobile ecosystems, and a Competition Act case into Google’s Privacy Sandbox changes to the Chrome browser. He was previously Chief Economist at the Department of Energy and Climate Change and also worked for the OFT. Before that, he worked in the private sector as a senior consultant with NERA Economic Consulting.
