Mohammed Sultan Janahi leads the Competition Department at the UAE Ministry of Economy & Tourism as Director. Previously, Mohammed was responsible for developing and implementing AML/CFT monitoring strategies for non-financial sectors across the UAE, including as Head of AML/CFT Supervision. In addition, Mohammed worked at the International Monetary Fund’s unit responsible for AML/CFT to monitor efforts across a portfolio of countries, providing technical assistance, and contributing to policy development. Mohammed developed his regulatory skills during his tenure with the Dubai Financial Services Authority where he was responsible for licensing and supervising banks and non-bank financial institutions in the Dubai International Financial Centre. He holds a Master of Laws degree with a specialization in financial crime from the University of Dubai, and a BBA with a specialization in Financial Services from the Higher Colleges of Technology – Dubai.
