Joseph P. Vardner is the Strategic Counselor to the Chief Compliance Officer of Meta.
Previously, he was a Director and Compliance Senior Manager for Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. and led Antitrust, Anti-tying, and Antiboycotting compliance programs.
Before then, he worked at a top global law firm and the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. He has worked on government investigations, antitrust litigation, and mergers. In private practice, Mr. Vardner advised senior executives during government investigations and in preparation for their interviews or testimony. He also worked on several mergers in the energy, technology, media, and telecom industries. At the DOJ, Mr. Vardner represented the United States at trial in its challenge of a provision in agreements between a credit card network and merchants. He was also on the litigation team for its challenge to the merger between AT&T and T-Mobile. Additionally, he investigated civil merger and non-merger matters in the wood products, media, and financial industries. He was awarded the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award and twice won the Antitrust Division’s Award of Distinction.
Outside of work, Mr. Vardner volunteers with Stonewall Sports, the largest LGBT sports league in the U.S.
