Patrick Teague is a Partner at Geradin Partners, advising clients on complex competition disputes and competition and consumer advisory issues. Prior to joining the firm, he was Counsel in the Antitrust Litigation team at Freshfields, where he advised on complex competition, commercial and public law disputes, as well as regulatory and internal investigations. Patrick has extensive experience in competition regulatory investigations and damages litigation. He has acted for clients across financial services, telecommunications, broadcasting and industrial sectors in UK and multi-jurisdictional cartel investigations, including immunity/leniency applications and subsequent litigation before the High Court and CAT. He has significant dawn raid experience, regularly advising on inspections by the CMA and FCA, competition compliance and best practice. He also represents individuals under CMA investigation and supports directors preparing for interviews and hearings. Patrick qualified at Freshfields in 2013. He joined the CMA as Assistant Legal Director in 2018 before returning to Freshfields in 2022. At the CMA, he worked across Policy & International, Cartels, Markets and Antitrust Directorates. His work included the CMA’s CA98 investigation into UK government bonds; advising the UK Government on competition legislation and guidance required for Brexit; and contributing to the CMA’s Mobile Ecosystems market study and its expanding digital and Big Tech portfolio. He maintains an active pro bono practice, acting for NGOs including before the Supreme Court in public interest interventions concerning asylum, immigration, homelessness and children’s rights.
