Maria Jaspers is (since autumn 2020) the Director of the Cartel Directorate in DG Competition of the European Commission, overseeing four units dedicated to cartel policy and enforcement. Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of DG Competition’s Antitrust Policy and Case Support Unit in charge of overseeing policy developments in legislative acts and individual cases. Maria is a Swedish lawyer by training and has a Master of European Law from the Europa-Institut in Saarbrücken, Germany. She joined the European Commission and DG Competition in 2001 and has held several management positions during the last decade.
