Hiroyuki Yamashita is Deputy Director of the International Affairs Division at the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), where he is responsible for international cooperation and external communications. Prior to his current position, Mr. Yamashita served as First Secretary (Economic) at the Embassy of Japan in India, where he was responsible for economic affairs and competition policy matters. During his diplomatic posting, he worked closely with government agencies and competition authorities across the region and supported high-level bilateral engagements between Japan and India. Throughout his career at the JFTC, Mr. Yamashita has worked on competition policy, international cooperation, and the enforcement of the Antimonopoly Act. He has extensive experience representing Japan in international forums and bilateral dialogues on competition law and policy. His current work focuses on international cooperation, including coordinating the JFTC’s engagement in multilateral forums such as the G7, as well as emerging issues relating to competition law and policy. Mr. Yamashita is also engaged in academic research on algorithmic pricing and its implications for competition law and policy at the Graduate School of Law, Hitotsubashi University.
